Sunday: Family Fun and Yoga

Sunday was really just a lazy day. I had family in town visiting from Wisconsin. We ate an early lunch at Cheddar's Casual Cafe. I love that place! Great food and reasonable prices! 

After lunch I went shopping for new running shoes! I have my heart set on some new Mizuno Wave Rider 16s. They fit perfectly and I love the colors too! I hope I'll be training in them soon.

I did manage to fit in some yoga this afternoon, while my son took a nap. I always feel like I have to do something everyday, even if it's just stretching and using my foam roller.

This weekend went by so fast. Early morning run and then it's off to work again.

Iron Horse Half Course

This morning, I had 5 miles on my schedule. I met the LexRunLadies in Midway, KY to run part of the Iron Horse Half Course! Such a great group of girls! So happy I started joining them :)

Midway is a beautiful place to run. The horse farms in that area are spectacular! I love the smell of hay and alfalfa in the morning. It reminds me of my days at Lane's End Farm, and all the years I spent at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital. Ahh, the good ol' days :)

I've got a big week coming up. Packet pick up for the Bluegrass  10k is on Monday and the race is Thursday morning, the Fourth of July! To top it off, I've got 9 miles on the schedule for the following Saturday. Yikes!

Rest Day Equals Laundry Day

Fridays are always my rest days! I use my time in the morning before work to clean up the house so I don't have to do it on Saturdays!

I got the Zensah Compression socks in the mail that I won and I had to try them out immediately!


I love them so far! Great, fun colors, and a really nice material! Can't wait to take them on a run!

Iced Coffee and Chocolate Milk

I'm not sure where I'd be without my coffee. Probably wandering around in some kind of brain fog or still in bed, skipping all early morning workouts. Coffee makes my world go round! With all the heat and humidity, I prefer it to be iced. It's so refreshing!

This morning I set out to do 3 easy miles. (Post-run chocolate milk has been my motivation for completing my scheduled runs! Lol) It felt great this morning although I really hate running in my glasses. I ran out of contacts last week and surprise my prescription has expired. Fail! So I've got to remember to set up an appointment with my doctor. 

One week from today is the Bluegrass 10k! I can't wait. I'm debating on wether or not I want to tack on a few miles beforehand since I'm scheduled to do 9 on Saturday anyway. Decisions, decisions. Oh well, we shall see!

Thunder, Lightning, and Yoga

Running in the rain is fine, but I won't risk getting hit by lightning. So, instead of my 3 miles, I decided to do Jillian Michaels Yoga Meltdown instead.

I lover her workouts. I actually feel like I'm accomplishing something.

Time for breakfast, then I'm off to work!

West Sixth Brewery Running Club

Tonight after work I ran with the West Sixth Brewery Running Club. This was my first time joining their group. After five group runs you get a t-shirt. I'm all about that, so I'll have to get back there again soon! Incidentally, this was also their one year anniversary. Photos were taken and cupcakes were served after. Runners are given the option of running a 1.5 mile loop or a 3 mile loop. I was supposed to log 3 today, but it was hot and humid, so my friend Ashley and I ran the first mile then ran/walked the last 2. Oh well, I'll try again tomorrow! I did get really hot and sweaty, so that's got to count for something, right!? Time for bed! Back at it again in the morning!

Running in the (Super) Moonlight


4:45am comes really fast when you're two year old won't go to sleep! I love running in the early morning though, besides it's the only alone time I'll have all day!

I set out for an easy 3 miles this morning. It was already hot and humid at 5:00. Glad I got this one out of the way!

Now it's time to eat! Yay for breakfast!

New Friends!

I normally run alone, but last weekend I did something totally amazing! I joined in a group run for my long run! I'm normally a big chicken when it comes to meeting new people, but I know that I can't train alone for a marathon. I need support!

In totally unrelated news, I won a pair of zensah compression socks today from Ali at msprun.com! I can't wait till they are here!
