Bluegrass 10000 and the Fourth of July

Hey friends!
I hope everyone has had a great week! I know I'm glad it's Friday and I've got the weekend to relax. And by relax, I mean I get to run long tomorrow morning. Yippee, 8ish miles of therapy! I can't wait.
Anyway, I figure it's about time to fill you in on my last race, the Bluegrass 10,000.  The BG10k is held annually on the Fourth of July. This is the third year I've run it, and it's always lots of fun!
Weather is always sort of iffy this time of year, but 2014's edition was absolutely perfect; a cool 55 degrees on race morning! I know lots of PRs were run this year, including my own! This year, I ran it in 1:06:59, 37 seconds faster than 2013. I know it doesn't sound that much faster, but I also walked through 3 water stops this year whereas in 2013 I ran through each water stop. Needless to say, I was pretty excited about my time.
(Once again I ran for Kentucky Team Beef, sponsored by the Kentucky Beef Council and the 38,000 beef farmers across the state.)

This is a pretty big race in Lexington, and there are always lots of spectators showing tons of support for the runners/walkers.

As you can see, there are all sorts of characters that are involved.

The only thing negative about this race, is that it is very congested at the start of the race. I always start in the middle of the pack, but end of dodging lots of walkers. This could be why I ended up with 6.27 miles on my GPS watch instead of 6.2.

After the race, I treated myself to a large iced coffee and enjoyed the rest of my day with my best buddy! It was a great day for playing outside and watching fireworks that night.

Busy, busy weekend, but we sure had fun!

Well, now that I've filled you in, I'm gonna get ready for bed, so I can knock out some awesome miles in the morning!

Have a great evening folks!
